Decluttering Methods

Decluttering; truly one of the most important steps in keeping a clean home!  Before we get into it, I'll just say that I don't follow a particular method of decluttering.  I will find one area of my house, one closet, one drawer, a nightstand.  I don't take too much on myself like doing a whole room, but I don't have a room free in my apartment for storage or clutter!
That being said, let's get to discussing the decluttering!  Remember, this is just for your things!  Decluttering can be a personal yet liberating experience.  Sometimes you aren't ready to get rid of things and it would be upsetting to find out someone had gotten rid of it without permission.

Swedish Death Cleaning:  Sounds dark, but it's not!  It's part of the terms and conditions of the human experience that we could die at anytime!  What happens to our belongings after that?  Most likely distributed among loved ones, or sold, or dumped in the garbage.  When you die, will your loved ones have a bunch of meaningless garbage and clutter?  Well, introduce Swedish Death Cleaning!  There aren't really any rules to Swedish Death Cleaning, you do it at your own pace and start how and where you want!  It's decluttering for your family, but you will benefit too!  One common theme amongst decluttering methods though is to save deeply sentimental items for last, like journals and letters and other things.

One Method:  One item, one box, one garbage bag, you choose what your "one" will be.  Just as long as you get rid of it!  Try doing it everyday, or try filling up a box once a month, the world is your oyster.

KonMari Method:  If you haven't heard of this by now you must be living under a bridge in a box.  Okay, maybe not that.  Although this method has been thrown into the spotlight, a quick search will warrant thousands of results!
There are seriously licensed experts on the KonMari Method, I'm not, but here I am telling you about it!  Basically you have sections of your house that Marie Kondo came up with.  There are five sections, I have a convenient printable for you and those sections!  When you start a section you will pull everything out of that section, just to see how much stuff you have.  Then you individually take every item, feel in your heart and see if it sparks joy, and say thank you if it doesn't.  Then you throw it away or donate it or whatever!

I've been working on this post for a few months now, I know it's not perfect but I'm honestly so ready to get it out into the world!  Happy Cleaning!
