Cleaning Up After Sickness
You can feel it coming, that first hint of nausea and stomach cramping; you know what's about to hit. The stomach bug. That's if it hits you first, most of the time someone else brings it home!
Things to keep in mind! While you or other family members are sick always wash your hands, before eating and after eating and after using the bathroom! Washing your hands will dramatically reduce the spread! Try to be mindful of where your hands have been and don't snuggle with anyone! Obviously don't share food or drink.
The only cleaner you want to use is bleach! Hydrogen peroxide also kills stomach bugs, so I guess you can choose between those. I have a spray bottle with some bleach and water mixed, probably 70% bleach and 30% water. This happened more by accident though as I would recommend 50/50. Take a cloth and spray it with your bleach mixture and go around wiping down your light switches and door knobs and sink handles and remotes and cell phones or tablets. Obviously do your toilet! I also did the microwave buttons and stove knobs and my counter top and the inside of my kitchen sink.
Change and wash your sheets in hot water as well and if you have a steamer, steam your mattress and pillows that can't be washed, also your furniture! Don't forget about clothes someone could've been wearing while they were sick, vomiting creates a lot of particles in the air that get on walls, and on clothes. Now that I think about it, wipe down the walls too.
If you don't have a dishwasher, add a little peroxide or bleach to your dish water! Maybe you think I am extreme, but I will say, none of my family got sick. It only hit me. My husband laughed at me because I was still cleaning even though I was sick. He's got me there, not even the stomach flu can stop me. I've got a cleaning bug more powerful than any other "bug"! Happy cleaning to all, hope this helps you eliminate the stomach virus!
