Moldy Caulk; Plastic Wrap Method
This is part two to my moldy caulk extravaganza! First we tried the cotton ball method, and it worked well! Now I will tell you how the plastic wrap method went.
In order to do this you need plastic wrap, bleach, baking soda, a container to mix in and a tooth brush or detail brush. Pour a few tablespoons of liquid bleach in your container and mix in baking soda until you get a decently thick paste. Place the mixture into your caulk, I say place only because you don't want to scrub it in, you want it to sit on the surface so the mixture can work for you. After you have done one spot you can put down your plastic wrap.
TIP: Before placing your plastic wrap spray the wall with a water bleach mixture, this makes the plastic wrap really stick! Pictured: before any methods, then after cotton ball method then the wrap.
Now the instructions I found said to lift the plastic wrap half-way through and spray it with the bleach mixture to moisten it again. I skipped this step because I had a busy day and felt if I disturbed the plastic it would be extremely hard to put back up again. It got rid of almost everything regardless! I have two spots left I could treat with the cotton ball method and that is all! Either way I am very pleased, with both methods. I had scrubbed my caulk so many times and I thought it was just stained and I would have to do new caulk. Glad to say the black spots are gone! Hope this helps, happy cleaning!
