Cleaning Grout
Cleaning grout isn’t always the first thing on our to-do lists, but oh boy should it be! After you try this cleaning method, you’ll never turn back! Soon you’ll be cleaning grout as a beloved pastime. Now I saw this everywhere, every blog and vlog was raving about this method. Although, if you aren’t actively searching out cleaning tips, you might’ve missed it.
Introducing, toilet bowl cleaner! I had tried EVERYTHING to clean my grout, tile cleaners, making up a bleach paste in a bowl and scrubbing it with a toothbrush, washing my shower walls up and down. The dirt wouldn’t budge, and there was (notice how I said was) a lot of dirt! My husband works in concrete, so our tub and shower take TONS of abuse.
There were a few ways I attempted to clean the grout, first I just took the cleaner and ran it through the grout lines. This did work, but it also missed spots. Another problem with doing it that way, it wastes product.
Then I tried pouring out the product into a container and mixing it with baking soda, this turned into foam and while I think it did something small, it reduced the effectiveness of the cleaner.
Lastly, I poured out the cleaner into a container and then dipped a toothbrush in the product and scrubbed it into the grout. No wasted product running down the drain and it still got the job done! In the picture below you can see where I didn't clean the grout vs where it was cleaned and some drips from the product running down the walls. This definitely works!
